Oil giant BP has begun testing a new cap that could finally choke off the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico that has been gushing crude into the ocean for three months.
The operation had earlier been postponed after the US government expressed concern the tests were potentially dangerous.

BP tests new device to cap US oil leak
BP is preparing to test the new containment device it has lowered on to the leaking oil well at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
The British energy giant expects to know within the next two days if its latest effort to stop the gushing oil will be successful.
